A Look Back at 2010

When I look back through these pictures, I smile and feel a sense of complete happiness at what I have accomplished in such a short time. When I set out to take my photography passion to the next level and create my own business in September I really didn't know what to expect. However once I launched my website, this blog, and a Facebook page emails began to arrive. Phone calls started. And soon, I was booking photo sessions. I was beyond thrilled. Giddy in fact. My dreams were becoming real. My love for photography took on a greater meaning for me.

And I have loved each and every photo session I did. Meeting with family and interacting with kids. Making them smile and laugh. Seeing beautiful family moments captured with my camera.

With 2011 upon my doorstep, I foresee even more photo opportunities. I am inspired. I have many plans and ideas. I am already booking photo sessions for 2011!

Thank you to all of my clients from this past year! Thank you for sharing your lives with me and my camera. For allowing me to create pictures you will love and treasure forever!

Happy New Year to everyone! Best wishes for an even greater year ahead! Hello 2011!

But first, a sneak peek from one of my many favorites from that day I met with this brother and sister. I loved being a part of their Christmas secret surprise!

What I Love ...Standouts

DSC_2394.jpgblog

One of the greatest parts of being a photographer is ordering and receiving prints and to finally see them in print in an enlarged format makes my heart sing. It is very rewarding to see a 11x14 or 16x20 print of a family session. Even better to see my client's faces when I deliver their prints!

DSC_2393.jpgblog

One of my favorite products I offer is called a Standout. With a 1 1/2 inch depth and any size available, they make a huge a statement anywhere you place them.

DSC_5238_edited-1

On a wall by itself or in a grouping with others. Set on a shelf, desk or mantel. Simple. Easy. Wonderful. They are ready to hang, no framing or hooks needed! They are designed with either a black or white edging and lightweight; perfect.

Each print has a Lustre coating applied to protect them from fading, fingerprints and to give a longer lifespan to each picture.

I have some of these in my own home and they really make a statement. Most certainly a favorite print product for me!

I Heart Faces ~ Pets!

DSC_2570_edited-2blog

I Heart Faces is having their weekly photo challenge and their theme this week is Pets! Being the animal lover I am, not to mention being married to a veterinarian, animals are one my favorite subjects. The cute pooch above is Charlie who is owned by one of the veterinarians who works for my husband. I love Charlie. Adorable as a puppy last year he has matured into such a handsome boy!
Be sure to check out more pet photos over at I Heart Faces!

First Glimpse....The C family.

DSC_4889_edited-2blog

The day was cold. Very cold. We had our photo session times messed up. I was late because of this. My fault. I am human. We had a bit of time to capture some fun pictures. Just enough time for some really special family photos. Twin boys and their adorable little sister. Silly. Funny. Giggly.
Did I mention cold? But I loved it. I love my photographic life!

Little A & Big Brother L

A three week old baby girl and her bigger three year old brother = big smiles for me! Truthfully I have not done many baby pictures before I was asked to take pictures this day. After doing these I want to do more! You have to be patient with yourself while photographing little ones. At this age smiles are not a regular thing if at all. However, wide-eyed expressions full of wonder are. Which I adore. Not to mention little saliva bubbles peeking through her lips! So sweet!

Little A's big brother reminded me so much of my son when he was this age. Busy! On the move! Checking everything out! So his mom and I followed him all around, along with the horses. I can honestly say horses are extremely gentle yet so curious about little kids. There were many "Awwww"s said this day that is true!

First Glimpse.........

This is why I love what I do. This moment. What else can I say? Little boy being gently nuzzled by his mom's favorite horse? Adorable. Sweetness abound. Makes me smile.

Giving Back

Giving back. What does that mean to you? To me it means giving someone a chance. It means giving someone something they need and showing no hint of wanting or expecting anything in return. Giving fills my heart. It makes me smile and feel proud for helping, even if it is a little bit. Because we know a little goes a long way.
I recently visited my town's local humane society. I asked them if they would like a photographer to take pictures of their animals needing homes. They couldn't be more agreeable to that idea!
I can't even call this volunteering. To me stepping in that cat room and all of a sudden being surrounded by cats of all colors and sizes nearly brought me to tears. Taking pictures of these furry felines was therapy for me. Because I love my camera and I adore photographing all things great and small, being at this shelter made perfect sense. I took pictures of these cats hoping in the back of my mind that if my pictures would give one of these cats a home, I would be thrilled. No not thrilled. Elated. Happy. Relieved.
These cats all have a story. There are reasons they are in this shelter. I do not know their stories and their past. That makes no difference now. Their new life is here and their future is a bit on hold as they wait for new homes or perhaps this shelter will be their forever home. For me, I would love to gather each of them up into my arms and bring them all home. Sadly and with reality I cannot do this. But you can bet I will be back soon to visit and take more pictures of other kitty cats who are waiting for a lap to nap on.

For more information on these cats and others along with many other cats and dogs you can visit this humane society's website here.
